This is the stunt ender segment from Knock It Off 2. Lots of jumping off of and into plenty of stuff. I’m really amped on all of these stunts, and although some people would see this as just people being dumb and jumping off of things, I for one see the artistic merit in the entire segment.

After finishing filming for Knock It Off 1, the ender stunt being the flip into an old industrial refrigerator, I knew that for things to progress and be worthy of knock it off 2, they would have to be bigger and more creative, with more camera angles. I feel like I had a good grasp at this point on what would look legit before even attempting it. I also knew I could get hurt doing even a lame stunt, so I wouldn’t do it unless I thought it would be good. Stand out stunts would have to be the flip down the hill, the ladder in the back of the truck, the palm tree grind, and of course, the legendary fourth floor jump. This segment also contains some amazing stunts from Jimmy Wilson, who jumps into a sand pile from really high while rocking a yellow shirt, among others, as well as my cousin Mike getting rock bottomed into a table, and Lange aka Wang getting hit in the head with some boxes. Have fun!
Plus, I gotta give props to the CKY crew and the legendary series of videos (CKY2k and CKY3 are the best!) for all the inspiration. R.I.P. Random Hero!

Mini Ramps are fun!

I’m waiting for the latest video from wolfman’s Paradise to upload, and it’s taking forever, so in the meantime, I decided to compile a few of the montages that feature wolfman’s and a few other minis from over the years. The first one is one of my favorite mini ramp segments of all time from the Powell-Peralta classic Ban This. This segment is probably one of the main reasons that I love mini ramps so much, and also why I always wanted a mini with a spine on it, which we achieved last year with the evolution of wolfman’s paradise. The second segment is from the mini in our backyard when I was a youngster. The next two are from the classic mini ramp ragers in 2008, and the next one is the epic Savage summertime sections on the mini from 2009. After that we have a session on Steven’s mini ramp. Enjoy!

The Knock It Off Preview!

Here’s the preview from the now legendary, only available on VHS knock it off which I put together around the end of 2001. This was made to get people hyped on the movie and just to show that we were actually putting some stuff together. I really like this preview because it really does give a healthy dose of what you can expect to see in the movie, but not too much. There’s some bits and pieces of a few skits in there, but just enough to invoke either laughter, intrigue, confusion, or a strange combination of the three. I was also messing around with the editing program (Adobe Premiere 6.0 at that time, I believe) alot, just trying different things with filters and zoom ins and things like that. I think it looks really cool. Over time I’ve simplified my editing approach, but even in this where I was trying all that random stuff, I still kept it pretty simple. I always kind of knew even then what I was going for with the style and whatnot, so I never really fell victim to the amateurish editing mistake of trying to use everything in the editing program, like using a page peel transition, then the star transition, then the fade, then the spin away… That just makes it look like you don’t have any idea what you’re doing. Anyway, just check out this preview, it’s a good time for all, so enjoy it! (Knock It Off was released in March of 2003) (By the way, I wanted to put this up months ago, but it was WMG’d on youtube, so here it is on vimeo…)
